MADONNA - THE VIRGIN TOUR LIVE - ARTWORK PROOF & 29 ACETATES (1 of a Kind)
Original UK unreleased artwork proof for the 1985 video release 'The Virgin Tour Live' measuring 13" x 10" , This super rare artwork proof (as in image 3) is the only one in existence and slightly differs from the released cover on the back sheet where the pendant was repositioned in the bottom left corner and the wording replaced on both sides with a bar code.
Production artwork is the rarest as there is only one set produced from which proofs are created for approval and ultimately the finished covers, posters and advertisements etc are produced. As a result production artwork often varies from the finished cover on sale and some are rejected or slightly changed making these even more desirable especially as once approved such art is usually destroyed.
This one of a kind artwork proof also comes with the original complete job lot containing all 29 acetates (approx 29 in total) which were used to produce the cover , all acetates are like photo negatives on film which come in complete format and measure mostly 12" x 9" in size , During production these acetates (negatives) are cut and taped together in the process which adds layers and in turn completes the finished artwork proof, these are extremely collectible as again there are only one of each in existence and In the digital age these type of acetates no longer exist as they were simply made to form the artwork proof
Artwork proof and acetates hardly ever appear in complete sets (usually only found separately if they ever appear on the market), Over 3 decades later this set has been kept together with all original cut-outs and cuttings used to for production purposes in the release of the career defining video release of ' The Virgin Tour' & comes with a signed letter of authenticity from the art studio who were commissioned by Warner Bros to produce the artwork.
In used very good condition with general tape and markings which would be common with such items used in the actual production process.
